Located in Cafayate, in the Salta wine region of Argentina, El Porvenir de Cafayate is a family-owned winery today led by Luca Romero-Marcuzzi. The company, which produces small quantities of wines of exceptional quality, covers approximately 80 hectares of vineyards located at over 1750 above sea level, planted with Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Torrontes and Tannat. The Malbec grapes are selected and harvested manually in the Finca Rio Seco vineyard, located in the Salta wine region. After fermentation, the finished wine ages in French and American oak barrels for 14 months. The Malbec from the Laborum line of the El Porvenir winery has an intense ruby red color with violet reflections. The nose reveals aromas of dark and red fruits such as raspberries, wild blackberries, and blueberries, followed by floral hints of rose and violet, and delicate spicy hints of black pepper. On the palate, the wine has a good body and firm tannins. It is soft and harmonious with a balanced acid vein. The finish is long and persistent and recalls fruity and spicy notes. This wine goes well with red meat or game stews, aged cheeses, lasagna, or pork tenderloin served in mushroom sauce.
