De Martino Legado Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in Chile's Maipo Valley, the renowned De Martino winery was founded in 1934 and remains in the hands of the same family to this day. Over the course of the last 90 years, the company has achieved great popularity and critical success with its excellent wines, a product of the country's diverse geography. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are selected and hand-picked from a vineyard on Isla De Maipo, planted between 1992 and 1998 on an alluvial terrace. Here, the Mediterranean climate, tempered by the proximity of the ocean, and the gravelly soils create ideal growing conditions for this varietal. After harvesting and cold maceration, fermentation occurs with indigenous yeasts, and the finished wine then ages for a year in used French barriques before bottling. Legado Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon is an intense, elegant, and balanced red wine with a broad and complex aromatic profile that alternates fruity notes of plum, blackcurrant, and blackberry with hints of violet, followed by spices, cedar, coffee, and tobacco. On the palate, it is rich and medium-bodied with fine, well-integrated tannins and a very long, seductive, spicy finish. It is a wine capable of aging well for over a decade, but can be enjoyed now with a succulent T-bone steak.
