Drink it now or cellar for up to 10 years. No need to decant, but best to open it an hour before service. The modern, award-winning Czech winery Thaya is located in the village of Havranky, not far from the Dyje River, from which it takes its name. The vineyards, some of which are organically farmed, cover a total of approximately 105 hectares and are spread across the Znojmo region (in the municipalities of Hranice, atov, Havranky, Vrbovec, and Dyjkoviky). The winery pursues quality production through low yields and a meticulous approach in the cellar, where traditional practices are combined with cutting-edge technology. After harvesting and traditional vinification, the wine rests in 400-liter oak barrels for approximately 16 months. The result is a robust, elegant red wine with great personality, capable of aging for several years but also ready to be enjoyed now. Thaya Premium Zweigeltrebe has a dark ruby color and a broad, expressive aromatic profile that reveals notes of ripe red fruits and spices, with a licorice and slightly animal finish. On the palate, it is full-bodied, fruity, and balanced, with well-integrated tannins and a lingering finish reminiscent of woody notes. Try it with roast pork shank or grilled beef ribs.
