Livio Felluga Sauvignon Blanc 2024

Enjoy it now or cellar for a few years. No need to decant before serving. Livio Felluga Winery has its origins in the 1930s when its namesake moved to the rolling Alpine foothills of Rosazzo. Livio began replanting the vines here, laying the foundation for a winery that is still going strong almost 100 years later, under the guidance of his children. The estate spans 228 hectares in all, covering a huge variety of terroirs and making it one of the largest wineries in the region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes grew with their roots in Ponca, an ancient soil rich in sandstone, which grants a strong minerality and distinct tanginess to its wine. Fellugas Sauvignon Blanc is a brilliant incarnation of the varietal, shining golden yellow in the glass, with attractive green hues. The nose is pungent and summery, alive with notes of lime, yellow pepper, white flowers and spicy herbs. These flavours continue onto the palate, which is marked by a rigorous acidity and a fresh, juicy character. There are also notes of peach and pineapple to be found, making this a truly characterful and balanced Sauvignon Blanc, ready to be enjoyed by anybody. It will be an excellent partner for fresh seafood, or North Italian staples such as pesto alla Genovese.
