Kir-Yianni Akakies Sparkling 2024

Drink it now. No need to decant. Founded in the late 90s by Yiannis Boutaris, after leaving the family business Boutari Wine Group, Ktima Kir-Yianni is a Greek winery located in Naoussa. Its vineyards extend for approximately 58 hectares, where the main grape variety is Xinomavro, the most prestigious and long-lived Greek red grape variety. Xinomavro grapes are harvested manually from selected vineyards, located in Agios Panteleimonas in the Amyndeon wine area, at over 600 meters above sea level. Here the poor, sandy soils and the cool climate allow the Xinomavro to express itself in all its elegance and to develop a marked acidity, ideal for the production of sparkling wines. The first fermentation takes place in steel tanks at low temperatures, and the sparkling process takes place according to the Charmat method. It is a wine with a splendid deep pink color and a fine and persistent perlage. Its aromatic profile is fragrant and fruity with notes of cherry and wild strawberries, vanilla, and sweet ripe tomatoes. On the palate, it is fresh, with a vibrant acidity that perfectly balances its fruity sweetness. It is soft and juicy, with a pleasant effervescence and a refreshing finish. It is the ideal wine for garden parties and as a summer aperitif or with a tomato tarte tatin.
