Venus La Universal is a young wine estate, spread over 4 hectares of vineyards, and located in the DO Montsant in the Falset district, owned by Ren Barbier and his wife, the winemaker Sara Prez. Both with a wealth of experience in the family businesses, founded their own company in 1999 in a joint project characterized by a strong respect for the environment and a careful adherence to the organic regime. Venus La Universal is a red wine produced with organically grown Garnacha, and Cariena grapes from 4 parcels of old vines on clay and calcareous soils, in a vineyard located at the top of a slope that enjoys a north and south orientation. After manual harvesting, fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts. The finished wine then ages in large wooden vats and foudres for a total of approximately 18 months. The wine reveals a bright and intense color with cherry red tones and purple nuances. Its aromatic profile is broad and fragrant with fruity and herbaceous notes, and mineral and leather hints. On the palate, it is warm and round, soft and fruity. It has a good structure and ripe and well-integrated tannins. It is a balanced, elegant, and charming wine, with a long and pleasantly fruity finish. Try it with porchetta or pork stew.
